Privacy Policy — SkySpeak

SkySpeak: Premium Weather Chat ("SkySpeak", "the app") is a weather application developed by an independent solo developer. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and who it is shared with. SkySpeak has no backend server of its own — it is a purely client-side app that talks directly to the third-party services listed below.

Information the app accesses

SkySpeak does not require an account, does not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not contain advertising of any kind.

Third-party services

Because SkySpeak has no backend of its own, the data above is sent directly from your device to these services:

Open-Meteo — receives your location coordinates to return forecast, air quality, and location-search results. See Open-Meteo's terms.
RainViewer and OpenStreetMap — receive approximate map-tile coordinates to display the precipitation radar map.
U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) — receives your location coordinates to check for active official weather advisories (e.g. severe weather warnings, air quality alerts) in your area. This is a free, public U.S. government service; only U.S. locations receive advisory data, since the Service does not cover other countries. See the National Weather Service privacy policy.
OpenRouter — only contacted if you enter your own OpenRouter API key in the app's chat screen, or if the developer's build includes one. When active, the text you type into the AI chat (plus your current forecast, used as context for the answer) is sent to OpenRouter and forwarded to the underlying AI model to generate a response. If you never open the chat screen or never configure a key, no chat data is ever sent anywhere. See OpenRouter's privacy policy.

SkySpeak does not sell your data, and does not share it with any party for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data stored on your device

The following is kept only in the app's local storage on your phone and never transmitted to the developer:

Your selected unit system (metric/imperial) and saved locations
The most recent successful forecast, cached so the app opens instantly offline
Your OpenRouter API key, if you choose to enter one (stored locally; only sent to OpenRouter itself when you send a chat message)

Uninstalling the app removes all of this data. There is no cloud account or sync, so there is nothing for the developer to delete on your behalf beyond what already lives only on your device.

Children's privacy

SkySpeak is a general-audience weather utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
